On June 13, 2012, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced that the federal government will not list the dunes sagebrush lizard as a threatened or endangered species. The Texas Conservation Plan, led by Texas Comptroller Susan Combs, is a prominent reason the lizard was not listed.

Lesser Prairie-chicken
